Experienced Legal Counsel
Founded by attorney James S. Bainbridge in 2012, The Bainbridge Law Firm specializes in helping clients achieve their desired results as efficiently and cost-effectively as possible. Mr. Bainbridge brings over 25 years of legal experience to the firm. He is a seasoned trial and litigation attorney with a track record of successful outcomes in a variety of matters for businesses and individuals, including breach of contract cases, injunction matters, debt collections, unfair trade practices claims, real property disputes, and copyright and trademark infringement claims. James also assists clients with business planning and transactions, including the negotiation and drafting of contracts and agreements of sale, real estate acquisitions and sales, and, where appropriate, with respect to the avoidance of problems that may give rise to claims and liabilities.
Prior to founding The Bainbridge Law Firm, James was a senior associate at Drinker, Biddle and Reath LLP in Philadelphia, where his practice, national in scope, focused on complex commercial and insurance matters, with a particular emphasis on financial services business litigation, risk management, and risk transfer. Before joining Drinker Biddle, James was an associate at a well-respected, full-service law firm in Montgomery County, PA where he represented businesses and their owners in an assortment of various business matters.

Mr. Bainbridge was recently named a Fellow of the Litigation Counsel of America (LCA). The LCA is a trial lawyer honorary society composed of less than one-half of one percent of American lawyers. Fellowship in the LCA is highly selective and by invitation only. Fellows are selected based upon excellence and accomplishment in litigation, both at the trial and appellate levels, and superior ethical reputation. James is a member of the Trial Law Institute and Diversity Law Institute of the LCA. James has also been consistently named to the list of top business attorneys in Pennsylvania as published by Philadelphia Magazine and Super Lawyers® Magazine, most recently in 2024. He was previously recognized with this distinction, awarded to only the top 5% of Pennsylvania attorneys, from 2015-2023, and was recognized ​as a Pennsylvania Super Lawyers Rising Star® in 2013, an honor awarded to only the top 2.5% of up-and-coming Pennsylvania attorneys.
James was a regular contributor to the Association for Advanced Life Underwriting’s Essential Wisdom Series, a trusted source of actionable technical and marketplace knowledge for AALU members—the nation’s most advanced life insurance professionals. James was also recently mentioned/quoted in two recent The Wall Street Journal Articles, "Life Insurance Customers Push Back Over Surprise Cost Increases" and "Happy 100th Birthday! There Goes Your Life Insurance."

​James is a graduate of the Temple University School of Law and holds a bachelor's degree from the University of Delaware. He is licensed to practice law by the Supreme Courts of Pennsylvania and New Jersey, as well as the U.S. District Courts for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania, Middle District of Pennsylvania, and the District of New Jersey. He has litigated cases in state and federal courts in over a dozen jurisdictions, including California, Connecticut, Delaware, Florida, Kentucky, Maryland, Minnesota, Missouri, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, Tennessee, and Texas.

In addition, James serves as Parliamentarian for his Church and is a member of the Descendants of the Signers of the Declaration of Independence where he currently serves on the Board of Governors as Chancellor-General. James also previously served as outside counsel to the board of a school for blind and handicapped children.
